For our Platinum Certified class cars we can make an exception to provide the 1 month full coverage remotely as long as prior approval for a repair has been requested.  Expat Auto still reserves the right to have the owner take the car to a garage of our choice for warranty claims.

Expat Auto’s Limited warranty will not be provided on any cars.  As long as the car is not older than 10 years old we suggest to purchase a third-party mechanical insurance through us that can cover many of your car’s components anywhere in Thailand at the main dealer.  See more details about this coverage here.

No, but you will need one in order to be able to make insurance claims so best to get it sorted as soon as possible. 

The basic government requirements to be road legal is to have the mandatory government insurance called P.R.B. that only covers basic medical for the third party. You also need this policy to renew your yearly road tax.  Cars over 7 years old and motorbikes over 5 years old also have to have a smog and safety inspection done in order to be able to renew your tax.  See our vehicle title services page.

Yearly registration revolves around the date the car was originally registered new.  So when a car changes owners the date doesn’t change. You can only renew the yearly road tax /registration 90 days before it expires. When you buy a car from us the road tax will be valid for a minimum 3 months or more (up to 1 year and 3 months).

We highly recommend you purchase an additional insurance policy that will cover collision property damages and additional medical coverage.  Insurance in Thailand is usually sold for an unnamed driver so the good news is that anyone can drive your car and be covered.  See more details about collision insurance policies types.

We require a 20,000 THB non-refundable, non-transferable deposit that will hold the car for up to 7 days.

Yes, but be aware that on any additional deposits 20,000 THB/ per week is also non-refundable and non-transferable to another car if you decide not to buy the car.
