Help Selling Your Vehicle

There are a few basic steps in selling your car through us:

• 1) We can make a quick initial assessment as to whether we will take the car in on consignment or not. If we will, we can schedule a day for us to inspect and assess the vehicle in more detail.

  * Note: We do not usually take cars in that are older than 15 years old unless they are in excellent mechanical condition.
• 2) Let us make a recommendation as whether to sell your car as one of our certified vehicles (required repairs will be arranged), or to sell it as-is (with a repair estimate from our inspection) on our website.
• 3) We will market it in the fashion decided on. We also advertise through other Internet channels.
• 4) When it sells, we charge a commission (rates below). We will take responsibility for handling the paperwork. The seller will be responsible for ownership transfer fees, fuel, repairs, etc.

As a Certified Vehicle

Consigning your car with Expat Auto as a certified car is the recommended option if the age and condition of the cars allows it for the following reasons:

• Gives buyers peace of mind that comes from our thorough inspection and pre-sale repair requirements
• We take on the responsibility and cost to give buyers a written warranty on parts and labor as seen on the buyer's guide
• We will perform any discussed repairs, detail it, and get it advertised as one of our certified cars.

The cost for this service is 25,000 THB and includes:

• A detailed vehicle inspection
• Arrangement of any necessary repairs
• Detailing, pictures, and video
• Advertising on multiple websites
• Storage and weekly engine start up
• Client scheduling and appointments
• Ownership transfer service.
• Warranty to the buyer (see details and lengths on the buyer's guide)

* To sell your car as one of our certified cars, we require it to be left in our care if it is no longer under a manufacture's warranty (usually 3-5 years). If you need to use your car until it sells and it is no longer under warranty, we will advertise it without a warranty under the section "Vehicles from the community" whether you perform any of the initial recommended repairs or not and will publish either the repair estimate or repairs performed report.

As-Is Condition

Consigning your car in as-is condition:

If you are not able/willing to spend the extra money in repairs to bring it up to our certifiable status, we will advertise it in as-is condition without a warranty with the repair recommendations attached.

We charge 15,000 THB for this service, which includes:

• A basic check on the vehicle
• Detailing and pictures
• Advertising on multiple websites
• Storage and weekly engine start up
• Client scheduling and appointments
• Ownership transfer service.

Car Finding Service

If you do not see a vehicle that interests you on our website, we can also source one to your specifications. Please use the appropriate form below to submit an inquiry

Basic Inquiry Form. Use this form if you know your budget and have more general vehicle requirements. We will contact you to let you know what we can deliver to you for your budget.

Detailed Inquiry Form. Use this form if you have specific model requirements. We will contact you to let you know what price we can offer on a car that meets your specifications.

How it works:

• 1) Submit the appropriate Inquiry Form
• 2) Depending on which form you submit, we will respond with either a price we can deliver a car to you for or let you know what we can deliver for your budget
• 3) Agree on details then sign the finding agreement and give us a 10% deposit of your budget to initiate the process
• 4) Give us a week or two to locate and and send you pictures and info of a vehicle that matches the agreed upon criteria
• 5) Approve a vehicle and send the remaining funds
• 6) Give us a week or two to complete our inspection and renewing process if necessary
• 7) Drive your new wheels away with a written warranty!

Frequently Asked Questions

Consignment Sale:

Q: What if I decide not to consign my car after the initial inspection?
A: Our inspection service is included in the consignment service. If you should decide not to consign the car after this, we charge a 3000 THB inspection fee.

Q: What if I want to stop using the consignment service before my car has been sold?
A: We require the car be left with us for a minimum of 45 days. After that we would charge 3,000 THB for our initial inspection and detailing.

Q: After the car sells, how will you get the money to me?
A: We can deposit the money into a Thai bank account or we can also wire the money to an international account. The seller is responsible for transfer fees.

Q: What is the expected time it will take to sell my car?
A: Selling your car can take anywhere from one week to several months depending on the type of vehicle and time of year.

Q: What if my vehicle sells through my own advertising efforts?
A: If you're consigning the car with us and you bring a buyer to us from your own advertising efforts, we will take 5,000 THB off of our commission. If the car is still in your possession and you are simply advertising with us we will take no commission if you are able to sell the car on your own.

Other:

Q: Can you do an inspection on an outside car I am thinking about buying?
A: We will only inspect a car from a private seller (no dealers cars) at a pre-scheduled time. The car will need to be dropped off with us for 1 day. The cost for this service is 3000 THB and we will give you a list of recommended repairs within approximately 24-48 hrs (sorry we cannot give an estimate on repairs as we do not carry the parts on stock). This is not a guarantee that we will find every problem, but it will give you a baseline to know what you are looking at.

Q: Do you take in outside repairs?
A: We normally only offer on-going repair services for vehicles that were previously purchased from us.

Q: Can you take care of the paperwork involved in transferring an outside car that I am buying or selling?
A: Yes, we can arrange the paperwork and go to the transport office on your behalf. The cost for this service is 2500 THB + pickup/delivery if applicable.
